HAWAII MAGNUM BOARD®
The New Generation Green Building Material
What Is Magnesium Oxide Board?
Magnesium Oxide (MgO) Board is a natural mineral based sheathing material designed to be used in the construction industry and which has the attributes that will be increasingly demanded by both residential, commercial, industrial and institutional builders and engineering – contractors.
There is no other material available currently that has these attributes and that can compete competitively with MgO Board.
What Is
Magnum Board®?
Magnum Board® is the registered trademark name of the Magnesium Oxide (MgO) board developed by MBP-IP of the USA.
MBP-IP has devoted years in the research, development and testing to create what is recognized as the finest quality MgO sheathing and trim product lines in the industry.
Industry Problems Using Traditional Building Materials
-
Wood based products
• Swells, rots, are susceptible to insects such as termites and carpenter ants
• Flammable
• Can feed mold and mildew
• May be toxic when chemically treated
-
Portland cement-based product
• Respirable dust can be carcinogenic
• Difficult to work with (heavy)
• Has excessive expansion and contraction challenges
-
Gypsum based products
• Susceptible to water and fire damage
• Known to feed mold and mildew
• Currently experiencing high rates of litigation due to chemical compounds that contribute to respiratory diseases
• Corrosive to certain metals
Is there a way to address these problems?
Green, Safe, and Efficient with Magnum Board®
Magnum Board is inherently fire-resistant, with the ability to withstand high temperatures without igniting.
Fire Resistance
Non-Combustible Nature
Magnum Board is non-combustible, meaning it does not contribute to the spread of fire. This makes it a safer choice for construction projects, offering peace of mind in regions susceptible to wildfires.
High Melting Point
Magnum Board can withstand extreme temperatures, maintaining its structural integrity even in the face of intense heat. This characteristic is a significant advantage over traditional plywood materials.
Reduced Fire Hazard
By choosing Magnum Board, you are actively reducing the risk of your building becoming a fire hazard. This can be particularly crucial for residential and commercial structures where fire safety is paramount.
Environmental
Impact
Using Plywood in construction is harming the planet and our environment. Every new home carries an unseen cost: sprawling deforestation.
Technology has advanced, now it’s time to update building and construction methods.
Magnum Board® minimizes environmental impact. It's a commitment to preserving our planet for future generations. With every Magnum Board® home, you build not just
walls, but a greener legacy.
How Many Trees Does it Take to Build a House?
Plywood Alternative
Plywood has long been a go-to material for roof and structural sheathing due to its availability and affordability.
However, recent events and scientific advancements have underscored the critical shortcomings of plywood, especially in areas susceptible to wildfires.
In regions where fire safety is a top priority, Magnum Board stands out as the superior choice, offering durability and protection that extends beyond what conventional plywood materials can offer.
What is more, Magnum Board's resistance to moisture and mold makes it a suitable choice for coastal and humid environments. It outperforms traditional CDX and OSB Plywood in these conditions, offering enhanced durability and longevity.
How Does Magnum Board® Compare To Other Products?
